Halloween has been and gone, and as ever myself and Mr FFFB took it upon ourselves to indulge in our love of fancy dress. We (I) decided that we would go as Frankenstein’s Monster and his bride this year, and after watching hours of YouTube tutorials on how to make my hair cone shaped and glue staples to my face (hello eyelash glue) I felt that I looked every inch the rotting bride.

No fancy dress outfit of mine would be complete without a corset, and inspired by the amount of photos and tutorials in which the bride has gorgeous deep green eyeshadow on, I went for one of my newer pieces – the What Katie Did Extreme Mae corset in a size 28 in a beautiful forest green.

In hindsight this was maybe not the best corset to wear with a full skirted dress and very fluffy rolled up petticoat as it meant that I had to leave the lower half criminally loose, but it was a nice excuse to further break it in. I have been told that wearing it so loose may damage it, and I know I may have messed up by doing so, but by the time I got it on and encouraged Robbie to snap some photos we were running a tad late, and so off we went.

The corset is a beautiful rich green and it’s very grand looking. Greens and blues are my favourite colours, and it’s nice to have a corset in one of these tones. It also begs to be shown off, which is why I wore it over the outside of my outfit.

The shape of the corset allows for a build with larger hips, rather like the What Katie Did Morticia. I can’t say that I prefer one over the other, but I do like how the Mae is slightly shorter and straight across the top and the bottom of the corset. It just gives it a different look whilst still giving me a great shape, despite my layers.

I wore the corset for around seven hours on Halloween, and around half of that was spent sitting down as I travelled across London and then watched a Cabaret show. I did loosen the corset ever so slightly during the show just in case it got distractingly uncomfortable, and I tightened it back up afterwards. It felt great and easy to move in throughout.

Oh, and here is the only photo I got with the elusive Mr FFFB:

What did you dress as for Halloween? Did you also wear a corset?
