I own a lot of dresses. I think this is something we are all very aware of. And I like to think that I give all of my dresses regular work outs as they are, for the most part, rather versatile and there really aren’t many occasions that do not call for a dress.
I recently came across a dress that was so beautifully extravagant, I wasn’t sure what to do. At £115 it wasn’t cheap and I didn’t really know if or when I would be able to wear it. However, it was just too beautiful looking to let it pass me by, and so after a few weeks of waiting for a size 18 to appear online, I finally managed to claim a Faye dress from Collectif clothing

“We’re delighted to introduce this striking evening dress new for AW 2013. The distinctive 1950’s silhouette has been given a Collectif touch with hand stitched appliqué flowers dotted over the full skirt and sweat heart neckline. The dress features a tulle overlay on the skirt and across the top of the dress, resulting in a truly stunning finish. You will find a velvet ribbon on the hemline to add that extra touch of opulence. The back has been finished with a keyhole and button detail to ensure you have a dress gorgeous enough to make any occasion special and we’ve included a built in petticoat for extra fullness!

Fit true to size. If you are inbetween sizes or prefer a skin tight pin-up fit size down.

Main Fabric: 97% Polyester 3% Spandex”

I decided to go for an 18 in this dress as it didn’t look like it would have much stretch in the bust – and luckily I was spot on!

I don’t think my photos will truly do this dress justice. It is a plain black dress, but it has so many lovely details that make it so much more. The gorgeous sheer upper section is a fab touch. Sadly, I cannot do it true justice by going sans bra straps, but I still love how it looks and the thinly veiled boob window that is created. The keyhole section above the zip is really cute, and the flower details on the skirt and bust give it a little extra something.

As i said, the bust has pretty much no give to it bar on the see through section. The armholes are spacious and the waist nips me in nicely – I may not even need a belt with it! The gorgeous full skirt doesn’t itch or scratch, and it feels wonderful and flouncy.

I think I may have to start making excuses in order to be able to give this dress an appropriate amount of show off time. It will be kept for special occasions and it really is a show stopper.

In these photos I teamed it with some old ASOS shoes and a Freya Deco bra.

At present these is good and bad news about the availability of this dress. Sadly, there only seems to be a few size 16s and 18s left online. However, if you are a size 20 – 30 you should click here, as for the first time EVER, Collectif are stocking sizes beyond a 22! I really hope that this size expansion will one day apply to more items, but for now this is fantastic news and I know that this will make a lot of plus size women very happy!

What do you think of Faye? Are you dying to give her a try?
