Introducing: Christine Kardashian

30 Jan

What I’m about to say may sound like a humblebrag, but I assure you it is not! At my current size (usually a UK18) I am something of an ‘inbetweenie’. I straddle the high end high street sizes and low end plus sizes, which can sometimes be fabulous, and sometimes frustrating! I find that a lot of high street pieces are cut for girls who can wear strapless bras and show their legs off, and plus sizes can often feel a tad ‘frumpy’. And so when Christine Kardashian contacted me to tell me about her ‘Inbetweenie clothing line’ I was super excited!

Christine Kardashian an eponymous clothing line last year catering to “in-between” women, that is, Australian sizes 12 to 18 (UK sizes 12 to 18).

Christine says: “I am so excited to unveil this collection! Featuring tailored, high quality pieces, the new range is chic with a little edge, elements of fashion that can be hard to find especially past straight size clothing. Instead of overwhelming customers with too many options, I have released another capsule collection with interchangeable pieces that can be coordinated together or with existing pieces in a woman’s wardrobe.”

The new range includes jackets, tops, pants, a skirt and a dress – “hero” pieces this season are the Shawl Collar Blazer in Zebra and the Cape Sleeve Blouse. Keeping it local, the range is designed and made in Australia, with free shipping within Australia and selected international destinations (including the United Kingdom) and flat fee shipping to other countries.

Prices start from AU$145 (approximately UK£80)

I was of course dying to try a piece from the collection, and so Christine asked for my measurements, took a note of my style and sent me the Christine Kardashian cutaway pencil skirt in a size 2/AU14.

As soon as I took it out of the box I could tell that the skirt would be perfect for me. The fabric felt like a thick ponte material with a little stretch, and I loved the dipped hem detail. However, when it came to styling the skirt to do it justice in this post I did struggle a little. It took a few wardrobe changes before I settled on this look…

I teamed the skirt with a BiuBiu top, a belt from eBay and some heels from New Look (similar here).

As you can see, this combination gives the skirt a rather elegant business like look, which I think does it justice. The dipped hem is just perfect for me – someone who dislikes the back of her knees to be on show and often finds that skirts and dresses ride up due to The Arse Of Doom. The skirt was a great fit on me, however, it was slightly large at the waist. However, the belt soon sorted that out as it always does!

The skirt does not crease easily at all, which is amazing for someone like me who has a phobia of irons! It will be a great staple piece that could be worn throughout the year on many occasions.

The Christine Kardashian line is a very sleek elegant capsule collection. I do think it settles itself perfectly into the ‘inbetweenie’ market, providing sophisticated options for a variety of women. But what are your thoughts? Do you think that this collections ticks the inbetweenie box? Let me know in the comments!
