I am off to Greece in just over a week, and naturally I am planning to pack enough outfits to be able to change three times every day! My wardrobe is bursting at the seams with lots of new pieces, and so this weekend Robbie and I took to our local park armed with clothes and accessories. Much to the amusement of the dog walkers and sun bathers nearby, we took lots of photos of my favourite Spring pieces. This post will be very photo rich, but I will add commentary about size and fit where I can. Please bear in mind that some items are from last year or have sold out, but I will try to link you to similar items where I can. Here we go!
A dress so good, I need to touch my hair! I spotted this little sale gem the other day and bought it on the spot – in 3 sizes to find the best fit. 16 worked well but slightly pulled over the boobs, so I went for it in an 18. No need for a strapless bra if you don’t want to wear one – I simply slip my straps down under the dress to show my shoulders but keep the support of the straps. I really like this off the shoulder look as it screams summer and warm weather – or (me last summer) that you have burnt shoulders and cannot tolerate a bra! Now I cannot take all responsibility for this, but since sharing it on social media the other day it has sold out in most sizes. Hopefully there are a few returns to be made!
I have publicly shunned the cold shoulder trend many a time, but for some reason I just fell in love with this dress! The long hem, the boob buttons, the cut out shoulders… it shouldn’t work but it really does! I got this in a size 20 and it’s a really lovely fit and length. It will be so easy to dress it up or down and wear all year round.
Apologies for ALLLLLL the photos, but Robbie excelled himself here! I know that about 4 are of the same thing… I will get better at whittling the photos down one day!
I love this Scarlett&Jo pussybow dress – mainly cos the name is lolz. It is a darker dress, but it will be so nice to throw on in the evening on holiday, as it doesn’t crease or cling. It may have a high neckline, but I still find it really flattering and comfortable. A size 16 is a really nice fit for me – and isn’t it perfect with my cherry bag!
I cannot tell you how much I love Grass Fields! I first saw Olivia Campbell rocking them, and I have been obsessed ever since. As the fabric is quite stiff, it can be hit and miss as not everything suits me, but their maxi skirts are to die for! I am a sucker for patterns and colour, and so this patchwork style is so me! It’s a lovely stretchy waisted fit in an XL, and can be used as a bikini cover up as seen here, or simply to throw on in the summer. Plus: pockets!
This bikini (yes, it is a bikini!) is EVERYTHING! I got both items in a 20, and everything is a great fit bar the back band which I may make slightly tighter. Despite the lack of wires, the top fits me so well and gives me great cleavage. It works well as a top and a fashion statement – and besides, and not every bikini is meant for sunbathing or perfect tan marks.
As much as I am not a fan of getting my legs out, in the summer, I take comfort over slight body dislike. I went for a size 24 in these shorts as I find that Boohoo comes up very small. The fit is ok – quite big on the waist and touching on camel toe territory at the crotch. But they are nice and flowy and lightweight. And hell yes to mismatched patterns!
I naturally got the shorts in both colourways!
For this last look I was actually product testing something that I was sent last year – a ‘Halto’. The Halto is a nifty product that can thread onto halterneck bikinis to help spread the pressure point of the halterneck over a larger surface area and relieve some of the pain and discomfort. I will say that I definitely felt the effect of the product, but sadly my boobs are possibly a little too big for any halterneck to ever be 100% comfortable. I know that many people have found it to be really successful, and as I said I can definitely feel it spreading the pressure a little. However, I tested this on a day when I was stood and sat loads, and as I love the costume (size XL/16) I would probably wear it on a day when I am lounging and can pull the straps down. The pattern is ace, the butt coverage is superb and of course helloooooooo retro vibe!
Thank you to my lovely husband Robbie for helping me change under a skirt in a field, patiently taking a gazillion photos of me. and pointing out when I had lipstick on my teeth – you are my favourite husband <3
