Finding out that bra sized swimwear existed a few years ago was a complete revelation for me. Finding out that it existed in gorgeous prints, patterns and styles was even better. As Ash and Emma, creators of Lilly & Lime Swimwear have said, “We dread the beginning of Summer as we LOVE shopping for new bikinis but can never find anything that’s both fashionable and a great fit in our sizes. Our smaller busted friends seem to have a much broader selection of swimwear, all in gorgeous prints and styles.” The large busted friends decided to do something about this – and thus their brand was born! “Our label is here to bring fashion, style, options and a stress-free shopping experience to big-busted women like us. We have lovingly worked on each style and print, they seem more like our babies than bikinis. The bikinis have been carefully designed to provide support and shape for d-cup and up and we hope you love them as much as we do.”
I love brands that are created by people with a genuine passion for the market that they are targeting and an understanding of why that product is needed. The girls have dreamt up some fabulous designs in various different styles, and for a new brand they have done so well to cater to so many. They currently stock sizes 28-38 D-HH, and bottoms in sizes 8-18. They have halternecks, strapless, balconette and full cup bikini tops and full briefs, basic briefs and tie side briefs. You can mix and match patterns and styles and really just create your ideal bikini! I think that was what impressed me most when the girls contacted me and offered to send me some pieces to try out.
I have both sets in a 36HH/18, and even though both bottoms fit well, the ideal size for me would be a 20 or maybe even 22. They are both styles that I never usually wear, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I likes them. Tie side briefs are always a winner as you can make them fit you perfectly – I just have a lot of bottom to cover! And the higher briefs can be rolled folded down or left as is, which is perfect for those who want to show a little more tummy or bare a little more to the sun.
The tops were bang on for me. My size is all over the place right now, and anything from 34HH to 36J is fitting, and so I would say these are firmer in the back and spot on cup wise.
The halterneck bra comes with removable pads, which I chose to add in as I am a nipply nippler. They are easy to pop in and it’s nice to have the option. Given the weight of my bust, halternecks are generally not my preferred style, and so I would probably wear this on a day when I was mostly horizontal or in water! I love halternecks because it’s easy to slip them off to stop tan marks, and it gives you a great little cleavage!
As mentioned, the balconette style has removable straps. I didn’t brave it as my boobs are saggy and heavy and they need industrial strength materials to keep them off ground, but I have seen the style on a few models and customers and it looks lovely!
Aesthetically and structurally, they are both great! I love the nautical mix’n’match of the blue and nectarine set, and the way the lime set makes my tan pop. This brand is just super exciting! The girls are open to feedback and this is just the beginning for them and that bodes super well. But what do you think? Do you like the styles? The range? The mix’n’match potential? Let me know! And check out the rest of the Lilly & Lime collection here.
The cover ups featured in this were just to show how I might style these on a beach and I’m afraid they are both from ASOS and currently sold out.
