We can all be a little self conscious about our bodies, and as the weather in England starts to warm up that bikini buying panic is starting to take over. I definitely recieve an increase in emails and messages at this time of year, and so many are from bigger women who want to look fab on the beach but stay in their comfort zones – and that can often mean covering up their tummies and upper legs. I am not here to convince you that you should embrace your body as it is and wear what you want – but you should! I am here to say that I am also that woman who has a comfort zone and over the next few weeks I will be showing you where you can buy plus size swimwear pieces that will conceal those parts you want to conceal and show you my favourites that come in plus sizes and/or full bust sizes.
Today I want to introduce you to Lazeme who stock Elomi Swimwear.
“If you haven’t come across Lazeme, we’re the chill-out specialists and feature sleepwear, swimwear and lingerie designs for a touch of ‘lazy living’. Established in 2008, we originally focused on swimwear and beachwear but have more recently introduced lingerie to our collections. We enjoyed our visit to Moda earlier this week and have plans to introduce new lingerie and swimwear ranges this year.
One swimwear brand that we stock is Elomi. We understand that for some people Elomi Swimwear can be a big investment financially because many of the tankini designs fit over the swim bra and briefs. However, we have found that once customers have their swim bra and brief they return to update their beach look each season with a new tankini top (and for 2015 new swimsuit styles fit over the swim bras). We currently have a promotion running offering customers 20% off when they buy 3 or more items of Elomi Swimwear. We feel that this is a great chance for those new to Elomi to get started with the swim range.
Swim Bras available from back sizes 36-44 and cup sizes DD-HH. Tankinis available up to size 26.”
I am such a HUGE fan of Elomi. They have evolved so much over the last few years and always take feedback on board and make changes and tweaks to their collections. Their swimwear range IS a little pricey, but I have owned a few pieces over the years and so far they’ve served me well in pools, the sea and after machine washes. I especially adore my high waisted black briefs as I can team them with loads of bikini tops and it feels like I am in a one piece but without the invariable ill fitting cups and wedgie that swimsuits give me.
Lazeme very kindly agreed to send me a bikini from their extensive range, and so I went for the Elomi Kariba in a 36H/18.
The bright prints and flattering panel on the briefs really caught my eye, and I especially loved that the bottoms came up a little higher.
The cups are non padded and the straps are fully adjustable. I am in a funny state of limbo with weight loss right now and finding it hard to determine my size, but I would say that this felt true to size. I wouldn’t normally wear my bikinis as tight as my bras as I am not a fan of the squidge of a very firm band, and although I could go down a band I wouldn’t – if that makes sense! The cups provide quite high coverage which means no danger of popping out in the pool or at the seaside. I got a fairly rounded shape from it, not too uplifted but definately supported.
The briefs fit really well and give me great arse coverage – something that can be a struggle when your butt is the size of mine. I also find that some swimwear pieces are cut in a really odd way over the cheeks that doesn’t let even a hint of booty flesh show. Happily, these are super flattering and a great cut. They sit high enough on my stomach whilst still allowing me some flesh on show to tan. For reference – I am 5’7.
The pattern is just as vibrant in realy life as it appears in the photos, and this will really pop against tanned skin in the summer. All in all it’s a really perfect bikini!
But the joy of the range does mean that you can mix and match if you aren’t as happy to bare all. The briefs I mentioned earlier do come up higher than the ones in this set and will make it look like a swimming costume. You could also add this Kissimmee tankini top to the bikini if you wanted a little extra coverage over this or another bikini. It’s a really perfect range for offering options in terms of tops and briefs and cover ups.
Are you an Elomi Swimwear fan? Or do you have your eye on something in this collection?
