It seems to be my year for acquiring a splendid array of coats and cardigans. And thanks to the two hours of walking per day that my new job requires, I am really loving my layers right now. Sun, wind, rain and hail can accost me throughout the day, and so it’s important that I am equipped for the glorious British weather.
I am a huge huge fan of all things aqua. And so when Bonmarché allowed me to peruse and choose some items from their latest range, this soft mint green cardigan jumped out at me. I chose size XL, assuming that that would barely give me room to button it comfortably, but equally allow me to throw it on and enjoy it as an open cardi.
As you may be able to see, XL was huge on me! The cardigan is pretty thick and soft, and so it wasn’t the end of the world as I will still be able to snuggle into it, or maybe wrap it round me and add a belt.
The colour was really very lovely, as were the little pearl details that adorned the front of the garment. It has certainly kept me warm as of late, and I am considering buying the lavender version in maybe a medium to see how the fitted look will suit me. Be warned though – it doesn’t crease easily, but as my photos show you can see where I had it stuffed into my bag for a few hours. Basically, I am lazy and need to fold things nicely!
But of course, no Spring wardrobe would be complete without a little raincoat action. And no coat collection would be complete without a little polka dot action…
This size 20 navy polka dot mac is oh so me! Belted, spotted, buttoned up with pockets – winner!
It’s very very lightweight and dries super super fast, even after a rather nasty hail storm, which is perfect, and it folds up nicely and doesn’t crease.
I do generally prefer a flared coat so that there’s no button straining around my hips when I sit down, but as I went for a generous size 20 in this coat there was none of that. I do of course wish that the waist was nipped in a little more or the belt was a little thicker to help cinch me in. However, as it is it’s served me well and it looks pretty good too!
I have to admit, I was a little unsure about trying out Bonmarché items, as I did think that everything would be a little frumpy for me. I didn’t see a huge amount of products that I thought would work for me, but I am happy with my choices and the fact that in the flesh I liked the even more than when I initially saw them on the website. Online shopping can be a pain, but it’s good to try things and add your own style touches to make them work from you beyond the online image.
What do you think of these Bonmarché items?
