I’m a sucker for wiggle dresses. So long as they have enough stretch to them and my shapewear is up for a challenge then I’m a happy bunny!
It was lust at first site, and I just had to get my mitts on the sultry black version. The amazing Siobhan at Collectif advised that a 16 would be a spot on fit for me due to the stretchy nature of the dress, and I couldn’t wait for it to arrive…
Siobhan was not wrong, the 16 fit me like a glove! I teamed her with some size XL Maidenform highwaisted shorts to give me that streamlined look that I love, a Freya Deco and some old New Look high heels, and I was amazed at how the dress looked on me.
I was slightly nervous about the shoulder baring look, but due to the tightness of the dress, slipping my bra straps off my shoulders wasn’t quite the foot breaking experience that I feared it might be! My bust didn’t look as perky as it could, but I think that the overall silhouette still looked good.
The only think I found to not work so well on the dress was the folded over collar. My bust size probably contributed to the fact that I couldn’t get it to fold over as much as it did in the model photos. However, it is not something obvious and I didn’t feel like it ruined the look of the dress on me.
I love that the bottom of this dress is actually a true wiggle shape with a small slit up the back – big enough to allow movement, small enough to keep my shapewear a partial secret!
I wore this dress on a night out last weekend and it did me proud! I ate, I drank and I danced in it and I felt like a superbabe.
I am unsure about if or when Kathryn will be restocked, but Collectif now have this gorgeous Penny pencil dress available, as well as many other gorgeous fitted dresses. I am so pleased to have finally found some fitted dresses that will work on me from Collectif, and I can’t wait to see more bengaline goodness pop up on their site.
What do you think of this Collectif dress? Are you tempted to wiggle into one?
