New Look Inspire is a plus size brand that is often quite hit and miss for me. And so, when I was given the chance to try them out again recently, it took me a little bit of umming and ahhing before deciding on some items.
As the weather is cooling down I picked out two comfy looking fitted tops in red and teal. I went for the tops in the lowest size – size 18.
I also selected some high waisted black shorts in a size 20. I would usually go for a size 18, but as these shorts were made out of denim I worried they would be too tight and so sized up.
My final item was this size 18 Aztec print skirt.
I wore the shorts and teal top out a few days ago, and I think that the top stretches out easily as I found it to be less fitted the second time around. I would love to try this top in a size 14 as I believe it would be perfectly fitted even when stretched out. And so I would recommend sizing down a few sizes in this top if you fancy trying it. It’s a good length on my 5’7 long torsoed frame and will be great for layering this winter.
I found that the shorts came up rather bigger than expected. When I wore them recently I added some leggings and boots and it worked as a casual look, but it would have been nice to have some fitted shorts to wear in a more high waisted fashion as intended.
The denim didn’t feel overly stiff or restrictive which is probably why I found the shorts to be a little baggy on me.
‘Back in the day’ I used to wear shorts with tights and heels quite a lot on nights out, and it would be nice to revisit that look. I may have to invest in some smaller shorts for party times, and just keep these for the day time.
Please note – in the last three photos I was holding the shorts in place as if they were high waisted to see how it might suit me, hence why it wasn’t a ‘perfect’ look.
I am HUGELY into jersey skirts right now, and this Aztec print midi skirt ticked every box. I loved the pattern, the length and the fit of the skirt.
The red top was previously unworn, and as you can see the fit is a lot better. I think that adding it to the skirt makes the outfit look rather smart, especially with my trusty Primark heels!
