Bulk Buying

26 Nov

This will be a short sharp picture rich post about my love of playing it safe when it comes to my wardrobe.
As I have mentioned many many many times, wearing dresses is a relatively new thing for me. And as soon as I started to find dresses that worked for me I doubled and tripled up on them! If a dress can make me look and feel amazing then why not get my hands on every pattern and colourway that I can (within reason!) So come and take a look into my clone like wardrobe and meet the girls who convinced me that I could wear dresses again. They are a mixture of UK16s and 18s/XLs and 2XLs.

Erin.

Dolores.

Vamp.

Film Noir.

Heidi.

Have you also got a ‘bulk’ buying problem slash addiction when it comes to clothes or underwear? Do you like to play it safe and stick to what you know?

Hush puppy heeled shoes! They are so comfy so I bought the same shoe but in three different colours.

Seriously, bulk buying is my shopping mantra– especially when it comes to shoes, actually (I have a pair of flats in 3 colors and 3 of the same boots–in slightly different styles)! For me, if you find something you really like, buying it in every color is a no-brainer. You never know how long it’ll last and it’s rare enough to find something that fits perfectly and is comfortable that buying more than one is always a good idea.

I wouldn’t say I have a problem as such but when I find something that works for me, which is a rarity anyway, I do like to get it in different colours or even in the same colour instead of wearing the hell out of the one item (I’ve been guilty of this in the past!). Makes good sense!. Btw, I Loooove the vamp dress, gonna start saving for one!

I used to manage a vintage inspired boutique and we specialised partly in corsets, I tried every style but none were quite right. Then I tried the What Katie Did Morticia and I was in love. I have had 6 in total (2 I have now sold as I have changed size) and I plan to get more. I like to get things I know that fit me and that I love to wear..I have quite a few dresses where I have 2 colours in the same style.

Most recently I bought 2 pairs of exactly the same shows because they were reduced from £75 to £25 and I want to stud one pair and keep the other plain…totally rational!

If there is a style which you know fits well and you love wearing it why not. :) xXx…p.s you look wonderful in all those shapes

I’d like to bulk buy, because ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, though I rarely have the money to do that. I own a couple of the same Levi’s jeans in different colors, though.
Btw, I just love the Erin on you!

Fantastic dresses! I wish I knew “the perfect me dress” but one thing I do bulk buy is plimsoles- the sort you wore to school that’s like £2. I buy 4 pairs at once and leave them to wear out n buy more (there not really made fir the outside). My mum once bought a pair n they weren’t the sane style abd just didn’t work the same :(

I’m so glad to know that I’m not alone in this habit. About 3 years ago I found a lovely little number that I felt so comfortable in and loved so much that I now have it in 9 colors. I am trying to branch out a little but it’s hard to stray from such a great dress. I don’t know what I’ll do when they all wear out! pmsl xo

I often feel tempted by the idea (mostly because I can’t settle on what’s my absolute favorite color), but try not to give in. It’s usually the item I really really like and somehow the idea of having multiples makes it less special. I’m probably wrong though! There are different ways to look at it :)

I do it with jeans, if I find some I like I buy more

Tops. I really like BiuBiu’s Portos and Urkye’s Tubas. I think I’d be happy with every color of the rainbow in them. :)

I’m the same – once I found a clothes shop that clothes flattered me I was back there all the time. The place I go to is Collectif in London and I tend to buy the same dress in different colours. Luckily that have very good sales so I’ve amassed quite a few.

When I find a bra that works for me, I want 10 of them so that I don’t have to fuss with getting new bras until those wear out or my breasts change. Unfortunately, it takes me a few months to decide that a bra is a stunning success, and bra manufacturers work on the idea of seasons so I tend to have little success in finding more by the time I know I want more. I find it very frustrating because fit matters so much more to me than novelty when it comes to bras: I don’t give a fig what it looks like as long as it fits well!

I also get underwear and socks in bulk. I don’t need or want variation there.

With clothing I just purchased the Biubiu portimao in two more colors to compliment the color I already had. I am not going to miss out on having some spares in my wardrobe! Luckily it takes me far less time to make up my mind on shirts than it does on bras. I’ll bulk-buy anything I see as a wardrobe staple. Perhaps if I had more regular success in finding things that suit me I wouldn’t feel such a need to hoard…

Does buying two of the same in a favourite colour … Plus another one size down for when you loose that weight count? I’ve been doing this for years now:-)

Bulk buying problem with Bravissimo pajama tops! They are the only ones who make anything like them so I have about three of each color vest top (over 10 vest tops alone) three racerbacks, two of the cap sleeve top, and a few random others.

THIS! I only wish that I’d bought multiples of my favourite ever Cheap Monday skinny jeans – very dark very narrow – as now I cannot find them anywhere and the material is WORN THIN in between the thighs which makes for a very sad woman. I also bulk buy La Senza underwear!

I do this constantly. Most recently its been with Bettie Page circle skirts. I absolutely love the fit.

@wtmontana you should try Denim Therapy! They’re amazing and can fix pretty much any damage to your jeans :-)
